Reply to the Harassment Policies Class Discussion

Need help with my Business Law question – I’m studying for my class.

Read five of the group posts and reply to each one by stating 1) if you think the policy will be successful to prevent harassment in your club, and 2) if you think the policy will protect the club from a lawsuit if harassment does occur there. And make at least one suggestion how the policy could be improved. Also, vote for the best policy you read. Just add a little note to the end of one of your posts congratulating the team for winning your Best Post award. A little word of encouragement or something would be nice.

• I will attach other groups’ discussion posts in a document. You only have to choose 5 discussions that you want to reply to. Don’t have to read all discussions. And Please write in 1st point of view.

The discussion was about writing the sexual harassment policy for the night club. The questions were:

1. is the nightclub liable if employees are harassed at work? hint: maybe … it depends

2. what action will you take to prevent sexual harassment in your club?

3. how will employees be able to report incidents of sexual harassment?

4. what will you do when an employee reports an incident?

• Again, you don’t have to answer the questions above. I just wrote it to let you know what the discussions were about. You just have to reply to 5 group discussions on the document that I am attaching with1) if you think the policy will be successful to prevent harassment in your club, and 2) if you think the policy will protect the club from a lawsuit if harassment does occur there. And make at least one suggestion how the policy could be improved.

This policy seems really solid to me, you have a great plan on how to train people and how to deal with any claim.

2) if you think the policy will protect the club from a lawsuit if harassment does occur there. And make at least one suggestion on how the policy could be improved.

It is a solid policy that is likely to protect you from a lawsuit. I think you should include that you will look at footage from the cameras for additional proof so no wrongdoing is being made.

I really enjoyed reading your post! It is definitely a great idea to do background check. That way the company will know if the employee will be a good candidate for the position. I believe that your policy will be successful to prevent any harassment in the club. The policy will protect the club from a lawsuit if harassment were to happen because if you did a background check, you would be learning more about the person you will be bringing on the team. Overall, your group did a good job!

I just have to start by saying you guys did great! I enjoyed reading your outline due to its thoroughness. I do believe your policy will definitely be successful in the event of preventing harassment in your club. I enjoyed reading how you guys mention creating a pamphlet that employees can even grab at any time in the break room that breaks down where they can go to file a claim and such. I also liked how you included if management was the harassers and how you would go about directing the employee to file the claim through the hotline! I do believe you guys would stand a chance in court due to your methods of reacting to the claims of sexual harassment. You have a solid policy that is no tolerance and when it comes to sexual harassment I think that is very important.
