R‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍ead and explain in your own words what you understand about this discussion? Group Dynamics

Firstly, the task for this Riverbend City activity is to assemble a Training Curriculum Development Team. This is for your local police department to help with the needs of the LGBT community in your department. This is as result of your officer Paige Flannigan recently came out as being transgender. The Chief already selected two people he is placing on your team. You are also tasked with selecting the other four to six members you will be working with. Additionally, an important part of group dynamics in the workplace is making sure the people you select have a background that would benefit the team’s goals. Additionally,  as well as people who will all work well with each member of the team.

The two people selected by Chief Edwards are Lee Khang, Police Chaplain and also Felicity Pearson, (RCCLU). Representative. Mr. Khang has a can-do attitude and seems to be very accepting of others choices no matter his personal beliefs.  Ms. Pearson has beneficial experience working with diversity matters and seems steadfast on helping the police department transition. Out of the ten people Chief Edwards gave you to assemble your team from you chose six of them. This include Jonathan Barnegat, Riverbend City Human Resource Manager, Amelia Carter-Green, Police Union Representative. The others are Gerald Daniels, Corporal, April Nguyen, President of Riverbend City LGBT Alliance, Nolan Rosenberg, Secretary of Riverbend City LGBT Alliance, and Brianne Twyha, Social Worker.

The four other options were : Craig Sin‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍gleton, Corporal, Joy Palmquist, Administrative Assistant, Father Junot Rivera, Catholic Priest, and Mo Xiong, Riverbend City Diversity Liaison.

Group dynamics

I chose Amelia because she was adamant about making sure everyone’s feelings are being heard and valued. Then, I chose Gerald over Craig (both as current department employees) because Gerald seemed more welcoming to the potential upcoming changes than Craig did when interviewed. I chose April and Nolan for their work with the LGBT Alliance in the community. They both have experience assisting with this spectrum of issues. Nolan is a member of the LGBT community himself and could probably provide some beneficial insight into how it can be managed from an insider’s perspective.

Lastly, I chose Brianne because she is serious about making sure that the rights of everyone in the department are not infringed upon. I chose these team members because I believe each has the right mindset necessary to help facilitate beneficial changes at Riverbend Ci‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍ty Police Department.
